How One Of The Biggest Festivals In The World Sold Out Using Howler

And what this means for the people, the industry and the world.

Elrow. You’ve heard all about it, right? It’s one of the world’s leading music experiences. And last year, they partnered with us in a 4-year ticketing contract.

Huge! But also bittersweet. On one hand, we’d sealed our biggest deal. Ever. But on the other, we couldn’t service them. Not even remotely. Why? Because, like travelling, events were banned.

After a year’s wait, and following the British government’s “road map” announcement, loyal fans arrived at our ticketing platform to be first in line for the much anticipated elrowTown sale. The goal was to provide elrowTown with a seamless, stress-free experience that not only helped their customers, but their own team too. Challenge accepted.

Thousands in the queue?

Yeah. True story. This high demand came as no surprise to the travelling carnival though. In a normal year, elrow hosts over 150 productions worldwide, attracting millions of party goers. Sold out shows? No biggie. They’re pretty regular.

But for the first time ever, elrowTown sold out two dates in less than 24 hours.

The first date? Within two hours of going on sale. (You should have seen our servers. Wow.) So elrowTown released a second date, which sold out shortly after.

When quizzed about the success of elrowTown, a thrilled Juan Arnua, elrow founder and CEO, explained,

“Howler were an integral part of the strategic planning and implementation of the ticketing strategy which contributed to the success and sell out of both shows. This further validates the importance of having the right technology partner for the success of our shows.”

Oh yes!

This is great news for howler. We’re all for disrupting the industry. That’s our goal, right? But the disruption we faced in 2020 was not what we expected. Not at all. Making moments matter proved really tricky in the year of social distance. Sure, the home workouts were good. And the banana bread? Even better. But something was missing.

Human connection.

Some say we all come from the same source. And because of this, we crave connection. That’s why so many battled to stick to the rules which were the most appropriate measures. Staying apart was hard. Worth it, but hard.

That’s also why so many companies developed networking solutions. Like us. While new technology has fundamentally changed how people go about (virtually) connecting with each other, it’s clear that people are yearning for real connections, ones that aren’t WiFi dependent. The proof? Two sold out shows in less than 24 hours. Yup, people can’t wait to get out again.

The bad news?

Throughout the pandemic, our natural state of connectedness was disturbed by pain and disconnection.

The good news?

It can be restored. Because we all come from the same source, we all have the same needs at our core; to be pain-free and whole. As the world shifts back to its familiar self, events are going to play an important role in creating those much-needed connections.

At Howler we’re finally ready to make “every moment matter” again.

Fun fact? That’s our motto.

It’s not just our company that’s celebrating, though. The events industry in the UK has been waiting for this day for the better part of a year. And beyond the industry, the world. Finally, it’s becoming a safer place.

Know what that means? Music festivals just got bigger, better and more fun. Starting with elrowTown.

Howler’s experiencing exponential growth in the fintech space. Since our launch in 2015, we’ve become one of the most sought after event solutions in the world. Our end-to-end platform consolidating ticketing, cashless transactions, access control and our custom approach to client specific needs has allowed us to penetrate the European market; a big deal for a South African startup. But not our only deal.

We boast an impressive portfolio of international clients; from the world-renowned Sonar Music Festival in Barcelona and the Kappa Futur Festival in Italy, to Rhythm and Alps in New Zealand and Monte Verde Festival in Portugal.

Wolves travel. And they travel in packs.
